Purple Tuesday

Grosvenor will be supporting Purple Tuesday, the UK's accessible shopping day which takes place on Tuesday the 13th of November, 2018.

The nationwide initiative aims to make customer-facing businesses more aware of the opportunities and challenges disabled customers experience when shopping, and to inspire change.

Nearly one in every five people in the UK has a disability or impairment, and over half of households have a connection to someone with a disability. Their collective spending power – the Purple Pound – is worth £249 billion to the UK economy.
Purple Tuesday was created to realise this potential given that there are still real (and perceived) barriers that make it harder for disabled people to find work, spend money online and in store, and enjoy a drink or meal out.

The Centre has invited the charity, The Disability Resource Centre, on Purple Tuesday to provide information to carers and disabled visitors. More info here:

Grosvenor Centre and Sainsbury's will also be participating in quiet hours throughout the day from 9am-10am and 4pm-5pm where the music system will be turned off to provide a calmer atmosphere for visitors.

Grosvenor Centre's commitment to accessible shopping includes;

Grosvenor Centre is fully wheelchair accessible. The Centre has a number of lifts to each floor of the shopping mall and car park.

Customer disabled toilet facilities are located on the mall first floor behind Costa.

Disabled Parking Spaces

Grosvenor Centre has 32 disabled parking bays available in the adjacent multi-storey car park – owned and operated by Northampton Borough Council. All lifts travel between the car park and mall.
